Over at Planet Grand Theft Auto it is being reported that Nintendo of America president, Reggie Fils-Aime was interviewed by an American television station at the end of 2006 to discuss all things Nintendo. Eventually the subject of Grand Theft Auto was brought up and Reggie seemed insistent that Nintendo were doing all they can do get the franchise onto a Nintendo format.

“Nintendo has done all it can to persuade Take-Two Interactive Software to bring the Grand Theft Auto franchise to Nintendo consoles, and it is now up to the third party publisher to decide whether Rockstar Games' immensely popular series will appear on Wii.”

After a lack of third party support for the Game Cube which, at least in part, led to its downfall, it is good to see Nintendo taking a keen interest in popular third party franchises and developers. As Reggie says, the ball is now in Take-Two’s court but we could well be seeing a GTA title on the Wii in the future!

Yeah I hope it happens too because it could probably be a big push for Nintendo and the functions of the Wii could really make GTA something special.

Would be a really great game on the Wii and increase sales yet again.

GTA over time has become legendary and as phoenix said this would be great for wii and nintendo!

GTA is a great game, but it's not really the type of game I see the Wii featuring. It would be great if they got it though.
